Vans reissues rare, retro-style Peanuts prints from 1983

If you’re a fan of both Charles Schulz’s “Peanuts” characters and Vans’ skate-influenced kicks, prepare to pop a full-on Snoopy happy dance because the footwear brand is about to reissue some rare ‘80s-era prints featuring Charlie Brown and company.

The Vault by Vans X Peanuts collection, which drops in July, includes two vintage prints from 1983 that were created to commemorate the opening of Camp Snoopy at Knott’s Berry Farm and were used on Vans footwear sold exclusively at that Buena Park amusement park.

The Snoopy and the Gang print features the comics pages’ favorite beagle cavorting with the rest of the crew (including Charlie Brown, Lucy, Sally and Peppermint Patty) in two retro colorways (lavender and turquoise) of the OG Authentic LX silhouette and an OG Sk8-Hi LX.

The Camp Snoopy print features a collage-style arrangement depicting the sunglasses-wearing Snoopy-but-not-Snoopy character Joe Cool, also in two colorways (a pale peach shade and a white) and an OG Era LX and OG Sk8-Hi LX silhouette.

The Vault by Vans X Peanuts collection is set to retail from $60 to $70 for adult sizes and $40 for toddler sizes and will be stocked at select Vault by Vans retailers (including Blends, Undefeated and Ron Robinson boutiques locally).

This is the second time this summer that Vans has tapped into the pop culture mother lode of three decades past. Earlier this month the Cypress-based subsidiary of VF Corp. debuted a “Star Wars” collaboration that included footwear, backpacks, bandannas and hats.
