Public School wins CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Award
Public School designers Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne were named the winners of the Council of Fashion Designers of America/Vogue Fashion Fund Award on Monday night in New York City.
New York-based menswear brand Public School was one of 10 finalists nominated for the award given to up-and-coming talent, all of whom presented pieces from their collections at an event in Los Angeles on Oct. 23.
“We are truly honored and humbled by the support and recognition from Vogue and the CFDA,” Chow said in a press statement.
Added Osborne, “To be included in the same company as this talented group of designers is an honor itself.”
Chow and Osborne update classic streetwear silhouettes such as baseball and biker jackets, flannel shirts and creeper shoes, mixing references from fashion, music and art into their work. The Public School collection is sold at Barneys New York and Ssense.com, among other places.
In its 10th year, the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund competition culminates in a $300,000 prize, and $100,000 prizes each for two runners-up. The runners-up were L.A.-based women’s wear designer JC Obando and jewelry designer Marc Alary.
