Paris Fashion Week spring 2014: Nina Ricci review
Under a tent at the Tuileries Gardens, with Olivia Palermo sitting front row, designer Peter Copping showed his spring 2014 Nina Ricci collection Thursday afternoon.
The inspiration: Romantic and historical men’s dressing.
The look: Spring romance. Color palette included variations on white, rose, golden beige and dove gray.
Key pieces: Feminine white shirt dresses with ruffle and lace details. Summer waistcoat in blue ticking stripe. Diaphanous short dresses with layers of lace fused with washed-out, watercolor floral chiffons. Delicate cashmere pullover sweater with lace insets. Gorgeous strapless, duchesse satin dress in “Bleu de Sevres” porcelain blue. A great new bag, the Carte Blanche, which is a large envelope-shaped clutch with a fine metal handle. Heels with pretty carved motifs.
The verdict: Charming and effortless-looking. Copping does such a good job creating clothes women can really wear. And this season’s crop of sweet dresses in particular would be perfect on Palermo and other Hollywood lovelies.
