Oscars 2014: Olga Kurylenko to wear Red Carpet Green Dress gown
Organizers of the annual Red Carpet Green Dress challenge announced Wednesday that Olga Kurylenko (“Quantum of Solace,” “Vampire Academy”) has been tapped to wear this year’s winning eco-friendly gown to the Academy Awards on March 2.
The winning sustainable design was submitted by French fashion designer Alice Elia, who is a student at ESMOD in Paris (where, according to the announcement, she’s specializing in couture for women).
Now in its fifth year, the program, the brainchild of Suzy Amis Cameron (wife of director James Cameron) has used the Academy Awards red carpet to raise the profile of eco-friendly and sustainable design as well as raise funds for the Malibu Canyon-based MUSE School CA she co-founded.
Past winners of the international desgn competition include Michael Badger (whose design was worn by Naomie Harris at the 2013 Oscars), Missi Pyle (2012), Valentina Delfino (worn by Missi Pyle to the 2012 Academy Awards), Samata Angel (2011) and Jillian Granz whose winning submission hit the red carpet in 2010.
Last week organizers announced the winner of the Red Carpet Green Dress program’s first tuxedo challenge -- New Zealand designer Jomnarn Dul, whose tux design will be worn by actor Kellan Lutz.
