John Varvatos Stuart House benefit final tally tops $1.135 million
With the final gavel coming down on the online charity auction, the amount raised at this year’s John Varvatos Stuart House benefit has topped a cool million dollars for the second consecutive year.
This year’s event, hosted by honorary chair Chris Pine and featuring a musical performance by Ziggy Marley, was the 12th that the menswear designer organized to raise funds for the UCLA Rape Treatment Center’s program for sexually abused children. It brought in a total of $1.135 million.
According to Varvatos representatives, the five top-performing auction items included a studio visit with Howard Stern during a show taping; back-to-back KISS concerts and a flight with the band on its personal jet; a private meet-and-greet with Rush and tickets to its Irvine 40th anniversary tour show; a three-night-stay in the private Maui residence of Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler; and a private meet-and-greet with Eddie Van Halen at a fall 2015 North American Van Halen show.
Chrysler and Hasbro were the presenting sonsors of this year’s event, which took place April 26 in a tented space adjacent to the John Varvatos boutique in West Hollywood. The amount raised this year brings the total funds raised to more than $6.2 million.
