‘American Horror Story: Freak Show’ sponsors a costume contest
“American Horror Story” is scheduled to return to FX on Oct. 8, with a new story that sounds like it could be the scariest one yet, “Freak Show.”
A quick look at the show’s website reveals a contortionist with three legs, a two-headed woman, midgets, a giant and a very, very frightening clown.
To turn terror into creativity, the show has launched a costume design contest, inviting entrants with an “eye for the unusual” to design a costume inspired by the series. Contestants are to submit sketches and a description of their design inspirations to www.AHSDesignContest.com, where you’ll find complete rules.
The contest runs through 11:59 p.m. Oct. 8. Entries will be judged by “American Horror Story” costume designer Lou Eyrich, fashion designer Christian Siriano and FX Network executive Stephanie Gibbons, president of marketing and on-air promotion.
The winner will receive $5,000 and have a chance to meet Eyrich. In addition, the garment will be made and displayed on the “American Horror Story” website. One runner-up will receive $1,500.
All in all, designing costumes might not be a bad way to get in the mood for another season of freakish terror. Even if you don’t win, you might end up with an idea for an inspired Halloween costume.
