2013 World Beard and Moustache Championships: California wins big
American beardsmen and ‘stache-thletes won big in the cradle of facial-hair face-offs, taking home six first-place wins and 16 trophies overall at the 2013 World Beard and Moustache Championships held in Leinfelden-Echterdingen, Germany on Saturday.

Although we could not be there to watch the whiskered wizardry ourselves, there was apparently plenty of reporters in attendance and we’ve sifted through the various published reports (including this account from the folks at Beard Team USA) so we could share the names of the following follicularly endowed fellows from the U.S. who ended up taking home top tonsorial trophies:
Patrick Fette won first place in the English Moustache category, Dan Lawlor placed first for Freestyle Moustache, Sean Raiger (for Fu Manchu), Burke Kenny (Full Beard, Styled Moustache), Jeff Langum (Full Beard Natural) and Aarne Bielefeldt (Full Beard Freestyle).
The Golden State should be especially proud of its contributions. By our reckoning, California can claim three first-place winners: Lawlor, who hails from Los Angeles, Raiger (Sacramento) and Bielefeldt (Willits) and at least two of the U.S. contingent’s second-place winners -- Jeffrey Moustache (Full Beard Verdi) and Al Underwood (Musketeer) both from right here in the City of Angels.
