‘Wet Hot American Summer’ cast adds Jon Hamm, Kristen Wiig, more
On Tuesday, Netflix released the first teaser trailer for its upcoming eight-episode revival of the cult indie comedy “Wet Hot American Summer,” officially confirming the participation of virtually the entire cast of the original movie.
On Wednesday, there were new additions to the cast, including Jon Hamm, Kristen Wiig, Chris Pine and Jason Schwartzman, The Times has confirmed.
That’s in addition to the return of the original cast members, including Amy Poehler, Bradley Cooper, Paul Rudd, Christopher Meloni, Elizabeth Banks, Janeane Garofalo, David Hyde Pierce, Michael Ian Black, Zak Orth, Judah Friedlander, Molly Shannon and Joe Lo Truglio.
That is going to be one crowded summer camp.
The eight-episode limited series will be written by original writers David Wain and Michael Showalter and directed by Wain. They were both in the sketch comedy series “The State” on MTV.
Despite being released 14 years after the original film, the series will actually be a prequel, taking place on the first day of camp in the summer of 1981. The film took place on the last day of camp.
The series will premiere on Netflix sometime this summer.
Deadline first reported the new cast additions.
