Investigation Discovery to hold convention for true-crime fanatics
If you’re the kind of person who likes to unwind by binge-watching shows with names like “Swamp Murders” and “Wives With Knives,” then here’s some great news: On Wednesday, Investigation Discovery announced plans for the first-ever IDCON, a convention for true-crime TV fanatics.
The event will be held June 11 in New York and will feature appearances by ID talent including Paula Zahn and Chris Hansen, as well as a virtual reality experience, a mock forensic lab and even a podcast station where attendees can gab away about their favorite horrific act of violence.
There will also be an opportunity for attendees to win walk-on roles in ID programming as — we’re just guessing here — Early Morning Jogger Who Makes a Gruesome Discovery or Neighbor Concerned About the Smell Coming From Upstairs.

“Several years ago, Investigation Discovery viewers coined the term ‘ID Addicts’ to describe our greatest and most passionate fans — those, who truly love ID’s signature storytelling, to death,” said Henry Schleiff, group president for channels including ID, in a statement full of questionable murder-related puns.
He continued: “ID Addicts have only multiplied over the years and, in fact, they’ve made us the #1 network for women, so the time is ripe to finally give them what they’d kill for — an exclusive, full-day date with the talent and brand they just can’t ever get enough of.”
