TCA: HBO’s ‘Boardwalk Empire’ returns for fifth and final season
HBO’s critically acclaimed gangster drama “Boardwalk Empire” will return for its fifth and final season this fall.
Show creator Terence Winter issued a statement: “We’re thrilled to get the go-ahead for a fifth season of ‘Boardwalk Empire.’ After much discussion with my creative team and HBO, we’ve decided to wrap up the series after such a great run and look forward to bringing it to a powerful and exciting conclusion.”
The series is set in the 1920s during Prohibition and chronicles the life of Enoch “Nucky” Thompson, the undisputed leader of Atlantic City, N.J.
Steve Buscemi stars as Nucky. Executive producers include Martin Scorsese and Mark Wahlberg.
