“The Voice” on NBC will be getting a dose of Swiftian intelligence this season. Taylor Swift, that is, not Jonathan Swift.

The 24-year-old pop star is scheduled to appear on the reality-competition series as a “key advisor” -- a mentor-type figure who dispenses wisdom and experience to the show’s coaches. NBC has confirmed the singer’s participation via the show’s Twitter account.

Swift’s role on “The Voice” coincides with the release this month of her new album “1989,” which is named after the year that she was born.

Swift wrote on Friday on her own Twitter account: “Way excited about being a ‘key advisor’ on @NBCTheVoice.” The singer posted pictures of herself along with “Voice” coaches, including Adam Levine and Gwen Stefani.

Past advisors on “The Voice” have included Chris Martin, Mary J. Blige and Alicia Keys.

The seventh season of the NBC series kicked off last month with four coaches -- Levine, Stefani, Pharrell Williams and Blake Shelton -- whose role is to shepherd their selected contestants through the competition.

The show, which has been a solid ratings draw for NBC since it debuted in 2011, usually sees two rounds of competition per season.
