‘Orphan Black’s’ Tatiana Maslany to appear on ‘Parks and Recreation’
Apparently playing approximately a zillion characters on BBC America’s cloning drama “Orphan Black” just isn’t enough work for Tatiana Maslany: She’s also signed up for a two-episode guest role on “Parks and Recreation.”

The Canadian actress will, as first reported by the Hollywood Reporter, portray a love interest for Tom Haverford (Aziz Ansari) and will appear in the fifth and sixth episodes of the season. Hopefully, for Tom’s sake, Maslany’s character will be slightly less crazy than Tom’s last lady friend, Mona Lisa (Jenny Slate).
While further details about her character are not available, playing but one person on “Parks and Recreation” should feel like a vacation for Maslany, who portrays (at least) seven clones, each with distinctive accents and personalities, on “Orphan Black.”

The guest stint, brief though it will be, is yet another sign that Maslany’s star is on the rise. She took home the Critics’ Choice Television Awards prize for drama actress and the TCA Award for individual achievement in drama but was overlooked by the Emmys in nominations last month -- not that we’re still upset about it or anything!
The sixth season of “Parks and Recreation” opens Sept. 26 on NBC, with an episode set in London. Production on Season 2 of “Orphan Black” begins next month, with the series slated to return to BBC America in April 2014.
