Stephen Colbert and celebrity friends ‘Get Lucky’ to Daft Punk hit

Sure, the president was on “The Tonight Show” Tuesday, but it was Stephen Colbert who easily had the most memorable moment of the night.

To celebrate his annual summer concert series, “StePhest Colbchella ‘013,” the host donned tube socks and roller skates and boogied down to the song of the summer, Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky.” He was joined in the celebration by a slew of celebrity friends, including Hugh Laurie, Jeff Bridges, Charlie Rose, Jimmy Fallon, a plaid leisure suit-wearing Bryan Cranston and, naturally, Henry Kissinger. While Colbert’s musical abilities are already well-known, the “Get Lucky” dance session proved the comedian knows how to cut a rug too.

The video, which by Wednesday morning had already been shared thousands of times on Facebook, also put a positive spin on what was shaping up to be a giant headache for Colbert. As the host explained at length and, as usual, with great humor, Daft Punk had agreed to appear on “The Colbert Report.” But, thanks to a clash with his corporate overlords at Viacom over a scheduled performance at the upcoming VMAs, the mysterious, helmet-wearing French duo backed out.

This put Colbert, who had secured a sponsorship deal with Hyundai predicated on Daft Punk’s performance, in a sticky situation – one that, on the air at least, he skated out of with ease.
