SAG Awards 2014: ‘Modern Family’ wins for comedy series ensemble
“Modern Family” took the SAG Award for an ensemble in a comedy series for the second year in a row on Saturday.
The ABC series, currently in its fifth season, has been an awards season darling for years, often mopping up its competition in multiple categories.
Ed O’Neil, Sofia Vergara, Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell and Eric Stonestreet star in the mockumentary about the relationships between the members of a very nontraditional family.

The show has met with critical acclaim since it first aired in 2009. In 2013 the Writers Guild of America ranked it No. 34 on a list of the 101 most well-written TV series ever made.
“Modern Family” edged out some tough competition for the win, including NBC’s “30 Rock,” which has fans feeling sentimental now that its run is over.
Other contenders incuded HBO’s “Veep,” Netflix’s “Arrested Development” and CBS’ “The Big Bang Theory.”
