Netflix wants another season of ‘Arrested Development’
Sit tight, “Arrested Development” fans. More is likely on the way. At least if Netflix has its way.
The online streaming company’s chief content officer, Ted Sarandos, recently told USA Today that a new season of “Arrested Development” was a “positive” for coming back.
“It’s just a matter of when,” Sarandos told the paper.
The holdup, according to Sarandos, is coordinating the schedules of the show’s sizable ensemble cast, which includes Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, Portia de Rossi, Michael Cera, Tony Hale and David Cross.
Netflix made a spash last summer when it resurrected the fan favorite comedy series for a fourth season, seven years after it was canceled on Fox. The actors’ schedules were similarly busy then, but series creator Mitch Hurwitz found a creative way around that by focusing each episode around a different character. As a result, the ensemble didn’t interact as much as in previous seasons.
In his interview, Sarandos made note of that, saying it was “a fair criticism.” So we can hope for and expect a little bit more Bluth family togetherness when the show finally returns.
