NBC cancels Matthew Perry comedy 'Go On'

It’s another strikeout for Matthew Perry: NBC has canceled his comedy “Go On” after just one season.

Perry played a sports-talk host trying to recover from his wife’s death. Reviews of the show were generally favorable. But the audience lost interest over time: Although more than 16 million viewers turned up for the premiere, according to Nielsen, a paltry 2.7 million watched the April season finale.

Perry rocketed to fame as one of the six costars of NBC’s smash “Friends.” But the road has been a lot bumpier since then. He headlined NBC’s short-lived “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip,” Aaron Sorkin’s behind-the-scenes look at a “Saturday Night Live”-type comedy show.

In 2011, he co-created and starred in ABC’s “Mr. Sunshine,” which failed to make it through the season.
