Mark Burnett, Roma Downey to make ‘The Dovekeepers’ miniseries for CBS
Mark Burnett and Roma Downey are headed back to ancient times -- this time for CBS.
The husband-and-wife production team behind History’s “The Bible” will make “The Dovekeepers,” a miniseries based on the historical novel by Alice Hoffman, the network announced Monday.
Hoffman’s novel concerns four women whose lives intertwine when Roman armies fought fugitive Jews during the siege of Masada in 70 C.E.
The project, the first to be produced under a new CBS miniseries initiative, is aiming for a 2015 premiere.
“The Bible” was a ratings hit for History, with more than 13 million viewers tuning in for the premiere, according to Nielsen.
