Lee Daniels’ ‘Empire,’ starring Terrence Howard, headed for Fox
Hip-hop is coming to Fox.
The network has picked up “Empire,” an urban-flavored drama from writer-director Lee Daniels (“Precious,” “Lee Daniels’ The Butler”) for its upcoming schedule.
The Imagine Television/20th Century Fox Television series is described as a unique family drama set in the world of a hip-hop empire that will feature original and current music, and will star Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson.
Howard and Henson were featured in the Oscar-winning film “Hustle and Flow.”
Daniels and Danny Strong, the screenwriter of “Lee Daniels’ The Butler,” wrote the pilot and will be executive prducers. Other executive producers include Brian Grazer (“24”) and Francie Calfo (“Those Who Kill”).
