Hulu’s 2014 lineup includes ‘Deadbeat’ and original ‘The Bridge’

Hulu unveiled its programming lineup for 2014 at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas on Wednesday, and the new year will include a chance to watch the original Scandanavian version of “The Bridge” along with original production “Deadbeat” and new seasons of several returning shows.

“The Bridge” was adapted for American audiences on FX last year, but the original BAFTA-nominated series took place on the border between Sweden and Denmark and used a murder investigation as a way to explore the societal problems in those two frigid countries. The 10-episode series premieres Jan. 14.

“Deadbeat” is a co-production with Lionsgate TV and stars Tyler Labine as a medium who will go to drastic lengths to put ghosts to rest. The supernatural comedy series also stars Brandon T. Jackson and “So You Think You Can Dance’s” Cat Deeley. The series premieres April 9.

Another original production is “The Hotwives of Orlando,” which Hulu will exclusively distribute from Paramount Digital Entertainment. The series is a parody of the “Real Housewives” franchise and stars Casey Wilson, Angela Kinsey, Kristen Schaal, Tymberlee Hill, Danielle Schneider and Andrea Savage as conniving, backstabbing housewives. So the parody isn’t far from the real thing. No premiere date has been set.

Hulu will also bring back several series, with second seasons of “The Awesomes,” “Behind the Mask,” “East Los High,” “Moone Boy” and “Quick Draw.” A third season of “Rev.,” the BBC comedy about the life of an urban vicar, will air in the summer.

Another BBC production airing on streaming service will be “The Next Step,” a reality-style drama about the lives of teenage dancers training to compete in a regional competition.
