She may no longer be the new girl, but Zooey Deschanel seems to be having some luck making her persona as an awards girl stick.

The 33-year-old actress, who headlines the Fox comedy “New Girl,” scored her second Golden Globe nomination when the selections were announced Thursday morning. But getting the news to Deschanel nearly required a wacky “New Girl-ish” plan -- she had left her phone in her trailer while shooting the forthcoming post-Super Bowl episode.

“I’ve been up for 20 hours, I’m not fully alive,” Deschanel joked. “I went back to my trailer to deliriously take my costume off, and saw a bunch of messages. I’m running out of places to pinch.”

Deschanel remained tight lip about the big Super Bowl episode, saying only that’s “it’s been a lot of work this week in a super fun way.”

She did reflect on the antics her character has endured thus far, particularly the hotly debated Nick-Jess romance.

“I really enjoy collaborating on these characters with our writers, and I like seeing what happens because sometimes I think, ‘Gosh, I want this to happen or this to happen,’ and I’m always surprised by what they come up with. I pretty much agree with wherever they go. This whole Nick-and-Jess ride has been fun. It’s cool to see them in this light.”

But the reflection was kept to a minimum. A more pressing matter needed thinking -- how to celebrate?

“I’ll be celebrating by going to work,” Deschanel said. “Maybe some ice cream. Wait, it’s too cold for ice cream. Champagne would be unprofessional. Maybe sparkling cider. Or wait, no, no -- maybe some hot chocolate.”
