Fox rep: No ‘Glee’ spinoff with Lea Michele
There is no truth behind reports of a “Glee” spinoff with Lea Michele, a Fox rep told The Times on Tuesday afternoon.
That statement came soon after RadarOnline made a splash by reporting that “Glee” creator Ryan Murphy was definitely developing the spinoff starring Michele.
The Radar story quoted an anonymous “insider close to the situation” as saying, “This is definitely happening.”
Fox was quick to deny the story, which by Monday afternoon had been picked up by a variety of excited blogs and news outlets.
The hit Fox show is currently in its fifth season and is facing the roadblocks typical to television shows based on teenagers as they quickly age out of roles. A spinoff would be a good way to migrate key characters into a new playing field alongside Michele.

“Glee” has been commissioned for a sixth season, which Murphy announced would be its last.
That announcement came in the wake of the death of star Cory Monteith, who overdosed on heroin and alcohol in a Vancouver, Canada, hotel room in July.
Michele was dating Monteith at the time and has spoken publicly about how difficult things have been since his death.
