Cecilia Vega, Tom Llamas named anchors for weekend ‘ABC World News Tonight’
Cecilia Vega and Tom Llamas are the new weekend anchors for “ABC World News Tonight.”
Vega and Llamas have been filling in since September, after David Muir moved out of the job to take over the weekday edition of ABC’s evening newscast. ABC News President James Goldston made their assignments official Monday in an announcement sent to the news division staff.
A former correspondent for San Francisco station KGO, Vega joined ABC News in 2011. Currently based in Los Angeles at the network’s West Coast bureau, she will move to New York and also serve as a senior national correspondent.
Llamas was hired as an ABC News correspondent in September 2014. He had been at WNBC in New York, where he was a co-anchor for the station’s 5 p.m. newscast.
