Bryan Cranston says ‘never say never’ to Walter White return

Let’s just state up front: There’s a big “Breaking Bad” spoiler in this post, in case you haven’t finished watching the acclaimed AMC drama.

For those who have watched all five seasons, Bryan Cranston’s appearance on CNN on Thursday may have provoked a raised eyebrow or two. Interviewer Ashleigh Banfield, who said she had only recently finished watching the series herself, seemed skeptical that Cranson’s character, the meth-dealing Walter White, died in the final scene.

“Your eyes were open,” Banfield said. “I thought, what if the police just take him into custody, he gets better, breaks out and just goes nuts?”

Instead of shutting that whole line of thought down, Cranston offered, “You never saw a [body] bag zip up or anything.”

“No movie, no nothing, no Walter White ever again?” Banfield pressed.

“Never say never,” Cranston responded.

That seemed more than enough for Banfield, who responded, “Oh dear God, please come back! I love Walter White.”

Pretty safe to say that Banfield is a Cranston fan, so maybe the actor was just playfully teasing her. Or maybe he knows something that he can’t divulge.

AMC has already given a green light to a prequel spinoff series, featuring Walter White’s shady lawyer, Saul Goodman, played by Bob Odenkirk.

The series will take place before the events of “Breaking Bad,” and former “Breaking Bad” actor Jonathan Banks has already been announced as a member of in the cast.

If Banks, whose character died in “Breaking Bad,” can come back, surely there’s room for a Walter White appearance, right?
