Navy strips Bill Cosby of honor; New York concerts postponed

Bill Cosby has postponed two upcoming performances in New York, and has been relieved on an honor by the U.S. Navy, the latest fallout in the continuing stream of allegations from women who say he sexually assaulted them.

The Tarrrytown Music Hall in Weschester announced that Cosby’s Saturday performances had been postponed “in consultation with the promoter.” No replacement dates were disclosed.

Cosby’s Feb. 12 concert at the Fox Theatre in Bakersfield is still scheduled, and tickets are being sold.

Meanwhile, the U.S Navy is revoking Cosby’s title of honorary chief petty officer, which was originally presented in 2011. Navy officials said the action was taken because the “allegations against Mr. Cosby are very serious and are in conflict with the Navy’s core values of honor, courage and commitment.”

Cosby enlisted in the Navy in 1956 and served for four years as a hospital corpsman before being honorably discharged in 1960 as a 3rd class petty officer.
