Triumph the Insult Comic Dog series among new Adult Swim offerings

Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, the cigar-chomping rubber hand-puppet character from “Late Night With Conan O’Brien,” will be getting his own series soon on Adult Swim. Some may question this, but no, you can never have too much Triumph the Insult Comic Dog.

On Friday, Adult Swim unveiled its new and returning series for the 2014-15 season, and with an extra hour of programming -- Adult Swim on Cartoon Network now runs from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. -- it has plenty of time to fill. Which is why the channel announced 30 new and returning programs for the new season.

Most prominent is the new, for now untitled, series about Triumph as the washed-up and debauched former star of a wholesome “Lassie”-style series from the 1980s. In modern day, Triumph seeks out his former boy costar, played by “30 Rock’s” Jack McBrayer. Robert Smigel co-created the series, along with Michael Koman and David Feldman.

“Dream Corp LLC” is a live-action/rotoscope animation mix about an experimental facility run by a mad scientist type, played by Jon Gries, who uses virtual reality to stimulate patients’ dreams in order to help confront issues in their lives. “The Office’s” John Krasinski is one of the show’s executive producers, along with creator Daniel Stessen.

Jon Glaser, best known as Councilman Jamm on NBC’s “Parks and Recreation,” created “Neon Joe, Werewolf Hunter” about a mysterious man draped in neon whose special talent is hunting down and killing werewolves in the sleepy Vermont town of Garrity.

Another project is an untitled comedy series inspired by the style and energy of the website WorldstarHipHop.com. It’s produced by Q WorldStar and Devon Shepard.

“Mike Tyson Mysteries” premieres this fall. It will feature live action appearances by Tyson, but mostly it’s an animated series about Tyson and the Mike Tyson Mystery Team solving mysteries. Norm McDonald, Rachel Ramras and Jim Rash also lend their voices to the team members, which include a ghost, Tyson’s adopted Korean daughter and a pigeon who was once a man.

“Black Jesus,” the live action series from “Boondocks” creator Aaron McGruder, premieres this summer. The series stars Gerald “Slink” Johnson as modern-day Jesus, living in Compton and attempting to pass along his message of love and kindness. Charlie Murphy, John Witherspoon and Corey Holcomb also star.

“Mr. Pickles” is a quarter-hour animated series about a lovable family dog with a secret satanic streak from creators Will Carsola and Dave Stewart. It will debut this fall.

Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim, creators of “Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!,” are back with a new series, “Tim & Eric’s Bedtime Stories,” a live-action anthology series that tells “Twilight Zone”-type stories.

“The Venture Bros.” will get an animated special later this year that Adult Swim promises will “change the Ventureverse as we know it forever.”

Adult Swim also plans to air episodes of newly acquired series “Space Dandy,” “Blue Exorcist,” “Black Lagoon” and “Attack on Titan.” Also up: new episodes of “Aqua TV Show Show,” “Black Dynamite,” “The Boondocks,” “Childrens Hospital,” “China, IL,” “The Eric Andre Show,” “The Heart, She Holler,” “Hot Package,” “Infomercials,” “Loiter Squad,” “Newsreaders,” “Robot Chicken,” “Rick and Morty,” “Squidbillies,” “Superjail!” “The Venture Bros.” and “Your Pretty Face Is Going to Hell.”
