New ‘Walking Dead’ Season 3 images promise bloody zombie action

Newly released images from the upcoming third season of “The Walking Dead” hold the promise of even more bloody zombie action, and a couple of peeks at the prison that will serve as the home and focal point of much of the action.

In the first image, from left: Norman Reedus, Robert “IronE” Singleton, Andrew Lincoln, Lauren Cohan and Steven Yeun circle up outside the prison with one of the walkers visible in the background (and several others surely just off-camera).

Some of the other survivors appear in the next image outside the prison, which features, clockwise starting from the top: Chandler Riggs, Robert “IronE” Singleton, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Scott Wilson, Emily Kinney and Sarah Wayne Callies.

And finally, there’s Andrew Lincoln as the group’s world-weary leader, Rick, covered in zombie goo (at least we hope it’s zombie goo).

The third season, which will introduce zombie-killing tough chick Michonne (Danai Gurira) as well as the villainous Governor (David Morrissey), is one that many fans of the comic book have been anticipating for a long time. The season premiere is Oct. 14.
