Fred Willard discusses his porn theater bust with Jimmy Fallon
Just over a week after his arrest in a Los Angeles porn theater, Fred Willard was making the obligatory celebrity late night chat show appearance to set the record straight. It’s a path pioneered by Hugh Grant in 1995 after he appeared on “The Tonight Show” to discuss his arrest with a prostitute.
Willard appeared Thursday night on “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon”and wasted no time in bringing up his arrest by uniformed LAPD officers on July 18 inside the Tiki Theatre in Hollywood.
“Let me say this,” Willard said just moments after sitting down. “It’s the last time I listen to my wife when she says ‘Why don’t you go out and see a movie?’”
Though Willard was sure to explain that he had done nothing wrong inside the theater, he was still a little vague as to what exactly transpired that ended with him being led out of the porn theater in handcuffs on suspicion of lewd conduct.
“It’s embarrassing as hell,” he told Fallon. “Everything’s being sorted out as we speak.”
A spokesman for the Los Angeles prosecutor has said that Willard can take a $380 “pre-filing diversion program” and the matter will be considered closed. If he fails to take the program, the prosecutors could bring criminal charges against him.
