Celine Dion, James Corden reenact ‘Titanic’ in the Bellagio fountain
Celine Dion is delightfully unpredictable, and it makes for excellent television.
The pop superstar flipped the conceit of James Corden’s “Carpool Karaoke” on its head during Monday’s CBS prime-time special. The “Late Late Show” host picked up the singer at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, where she’s wrapping up her longtime residency, and she enthusiastically joined in with “a song for every moment.”
Though artists are in on the “Carpool” gag, Dion took it to another level as she gleefully burst into a series of songs with little prompt. The powerhouse singer even had a tune for when Corden said a pipe burst in his bathroom. It was Rihanna’s “Work.”
Dion, 51, delivered lines from her hit songs “It’s All Coming Back to Me” and the viral kids’ song “Baby Shark,” which she made even more dramatic than Corden’s 2018 cover.
Next up were “Because You Loved Me,” a giveaway of Dion’s “3,000 to 5,000” shoes on the Las Vegas Strip — and an explanation of the warehouse that stores them.
The two also discussed the pitfalls of her fame, which meant having to watch a doctor introduce her newborn baby on television before she was allowed to hold him.
This being Las Vegas, Dion and Corden finished the segment with her 1997 megahit “My Heart Will Go On” by re-creating a memorable “Titanic” scene riding in a small boat in the Bellagio fountain.
Because why not?
