Oscars 2019: Olivia Colman on her big night: ‘It’s a very weird situation’
Olivia Colman plans to sleep with her Oscar tonight.
The British actress, who won the award for most charmingly gobsmacked acceptance speech after winning the Oscar for best actress, said in the press room that she plans to place the little gold man in bed, right between her and her husband.
Colman who portrayed Queen Anne in Yorgos Lanthimos’ darkly comic period piece, “The Favourite,” did not appear to have composed herself at all between collecting her statue and appearing backstage, and continued to talk about how unexpected the night had turned out.
“It’s not an everyday occurrence,” she said. “I don’t know how anybody is composed and remembers anything, because it’s a very weird situation.”
What would Queen Anne say if she could see Colman right now?
“Have some cake. Eat too much and be sick,” she said, grinning awkwardly. “If you’d seen the film, it would make sense. It wasn’t just a weird thing to say.”
