Blac Chyna and Rob Kardashian are getting their own reality show
Embracing the inevitable, E! announced Wednesday their production of a new reality series centered around the blossoming love story of Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna.
Male heir to the Kardashian throne, Rob and Blac Chyna began their whirlwind romance in January before quickly getting engaged in April and announcing in May that they were expecting their first child.
The relationship caused a bit of consternation within the Kardashian clan at its incept, likely in no small part due to Chyna’s complicated history with the family.
Blac Chyna, whose real name is Angela White, has a son, King Cairo, from a previous relationship with rapper Tyga, who dated Kardashian’s half-sister Kylie Jenner as recently as two weeks ago.
Kardashian’s relationship with Chyna even spurred drama in the season 12 premiere of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” when half-sister Kendall Jenner found out that he had re-gifted the iPad she bought him for Christmas to his new girlfriend.
As ridiculous an argument as it may have spawned, re-gifting is a huge faux pas. For shame, Rob.
The “Rob & Chyna” docuseries as announced by E! will feature six hour-long episodes as the two prepare for the birth of their child, as well as “a special celebrating the birth of the newest Kardashian.”
If this doesn’t somehow include Ryan Seacrest hoisting the baby aloft “Lion King” style as all of social media bows down, then this entire endeavor is for naught.
“Very few love stories have created as much pop culture buzz as Rob and Chyna’s, and we are thrilled to see Rob in such a happy place,” Executive Vice President of Original Programming & Development at E! Jeff Olde said in a statement announcing the project. “We are excited to share the next chapter in their relationship.”
Ryan Seacrest Productions (See? It’s all happening) and Bunim/Murray Productions, the same companies responsible for the production of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” will produce the new series.
Hopefully Rob and Blac Chyna will have a better track record with their love story/reality show than sister Khloé Kardashian did with husband Lamar Odom. Khloé Kardashian filed for divorce last week, four years after the conclusion of their two-season series “Khloé and Lamar.”
“Rob & Chyna” is scheduled to debut on E! later this year.
