Do Re Mi Fa So … What time are the Grammys, you may sing, er, ask?

The awards ceremony will air live Sunday from 8 to 11:30 p.m. Eastern and Pacific time on CBS. (It is shown on a tape delay on the West Coast.)

In the running for the evening’s highest honor, album of the year, are Beck’s “Morning Phase,” Beyoncé’s “Beyoncé,” Ed Sheeran’s “X,” Sam Smith’s “In the Lonely Hour” and Pharrell Williams’ “Girl.”

It just so happens that Beyoncé, Williams and Smith lead the pack with six nods apiece. In fact, the British neo-soul singer Smith scored a rare sweep of nominations in all four major Grammy categories.

Other key nominations, as The Times’ music writer Randy Lewis notes, went to a musical celebration of a woman’s backside and a cheerleader-esque kiss-off to bullies. You didn’t think we’d leave you hanging, right? That’s code for Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass” and Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off.”

Lots of hit-makers. Lots of hit-making performances. So let’s just cut to the chase and talk about the performances we can expect to see onstage.

For starters, the so-called Grammy moments -- that is, those unexpected musical pairings for which the show has become known. Tony Bennett with Lady Gaga. Kanye West with Paul McCartney and Rihanna. Adam Levine with Gwen Stefani. Then there’s Beck with Coldplay’s Chris Martin. Mary J. Blige with Sam Smith. Hozier and Annie Lennox. And don’t forget Ed Sheeran with Herbie Hancock, John Mayer and The Roots’ Questlove. Also taking the stage in solos are Ariana Grande, Usher, Beyoncé and again, Kanye.
