New Daft Punk album to be released May 21?

New music from Daft Punk appears -- finally -- to be coming.
After teasing fans earlier this month with a mysterious 15-second television commercial aired during “Saturday Night Live,”the French disco-pop duo evidently made its new studio album available for pre-order Saturday on iTunes.

Apparently due out in the United States on May 21 from Columbia Records, the long-awaited disc is to be called “Random Access Memories” and contains 13 tracks, none of whose titles is currently listed on iTunes. (A request for more information from a Columbia spokesperson was not immediately returned.)

If legitimate, “Random Access Memories” will serve as Daft Punk’s first non-soundtrack studio album since 2005’s “Human After All.” In 2010 it created the score for Walt Disney Pictures’ “Tron: Legacy.”

Rumored collaborators on the set include songwriter Paul Williams, disco legend Giorgio Moroder, Panda Bear of Animal Collective and multi-instrumentalist Chilly Gonzales, known for his work with Feist.

Nile Rodgers of Chic has also spoken about his involvement with Daft Punk. On Friday he told Rolling Stone that the TV spot “pretty much shows you the great collaboration” and that their work together “felt so unbelievably natural.”
