Has Janet Jackson canceled her European tour?
Months after being forced to postpone numerous shows to undergo emergency surgery, Janet Jackson has reportedly put the entire European leg of her “Unbreakable” tour -- including shows in London and Birmingham in England and Glasgow in Scotland -- on hold.
After performing at the Dubai World Cup on March 26, Jackson was set to launch the U.K. leg of the tour in Birmingham on March 30. Citing “scheduling difficulties,” fans were notified via an email from Ticketmaster that their tickets would be refunded.
“It is not possible to confirm new date at the present time so we are refunding all ticket holders, you don’t need to do a thing -- you’ll see a credit onto the card you used within 15 days,” the message read.
The singer’s U.K. dates are listed as postponed or called off on venue sites. Live Nation declined to comment and a representative for the singer did not return a request for comment.
Late last year, Jackson announced she had to push back U.S. tour dates until the spring to have an unspecified surgical procedure. Her statement asked for prayers of support and said no further details on her medical condition would be disclosed.
After previously postponing concert dates in order to rest her vocal cords, there were rampant claims that the pop star was being treated for throat cancer -- rumors that she refuted with a video message.
Jackson’s U.S. dates, which begin May 14 in Las Vegas, are still on, according to her website and Ticketmaster. She is slated to bring the tour back to Los Angeles with a stop at the Hollywood Bowl on May 21.
