Grammys 2015: A Great Big World wins in best pop duo/group recording
The American pop-rock duo a Great Big World has won the Grammy for pop duo and group performance for its single “Say Something.”
The single, released as a duet with the R&B stalwart Christina Aguilera, brought the duo of Ian Axel and Chad Vaccarino to pop stardom. It first gained traction on several reality television shows like “So You Think You Can Dance” and “The Voice,” where the song vaulted to pop success.

Unlike others in the category, the song is a slow, melancholy piano ballad that nonetheless gained widespread appeal. The record, first released in November 2013, would go on to sell more than 4 million copies.
A Great Big World beat out many other notable names in the category, including Iggy Azalea; Coldplay; Jessie J, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj’s hit “Bang Bang” and Katy Perry with Juicy J.
The Grammys are determined by about 13,000 voting members. The eligibility period for nominated recordings was Oct. 1, 2013, to Sept. 30, 2014. The 57th awards are being held at the Staples Center and telecast on CBS-TV. They are broadcast live except for viewers on the West Coast.
