Eminem announces ‘The Marshall Mathers LP 2’
There’s been no shortage of rappers releasing late-career sequels to landmark albums, and now Eminem is joining their ranks.
This morning, the MC announced that he’ll release a follow-up to his landmark 2000 album “The Marshall Mathers LP,” deemed “The Marshall Mathers LP 2.”
Dr. Dre and Rick Rubin executive produced the new LP, which has a planned Nov. 5 release date. Its first single, the Rubin-produced “Berserk,” comes out Aug. 27 at 12:01 a.m. Eastern time.
The new album, Eminem’s eighth full-length, comes after a career comeback with 2010’s successful “Recovery.” But he’s setting an ambitious goal by revisiting that album, widely regarded as one of his best.
That record sported career-defining singles such as “Stan,” “The Way I Am” and “The Real Slim Shady.”
The announcement comes after Eminem released another new single, “Survival,” off the soundtrack to the new “Call of Duty” video game.
