Not many artists can get their name placed before that of superstar rapper Kanye West on a festival lineup, but piano man Elton John has received top-billing for the 2014 edition of the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival. Other headliners at the four-day event in Manchester, Tenn., include Jack White, Lionel Ritchie, Vampire Weekend, the Avette Brothers and Phoenix.

Set for the weekend of June 12-15, the festival features a cross-section of artists amid multiple genres. Unlike Southern California’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, Bonnaroo has relied slightly heavier on a selection of jam bands, roots artists and bluegrass acts. This year is no different, with appearances from the likes of the Avett Brothers, Sarah Jarosz, Greensky Bluegrass, Carolina Chocolate Drops and more.

Representing hip-hop and R&B will be the likes of Frank Ocean, Wiz Khalifa, Ms. Lauryn Hill, A$AP Ferg and Ice Cube, among others. Bonnaroo is known for hosting a number of what it calls superjams, a sort of all-star mash-up of a number of artists, and this year electronic artist Skrillex is tapped to host one of the jam sessions.

In addition to Skrillex, there’s quite a few L.A-based acts on the bill, including groove-driven rock act Warpaint and electronic act the Glitch Mob. Plenty of up-and-comers are sprinkled throughout the bill, including the woozy, digital compositions of local singer/songwriter Banks.

Produced and promoted by Superfly and AC Entertainment, Bonnaroo draws about 80,000 people and includes a comedy tent and film screenings, as well as a mini-craft beer festival complete with beer classes. Last year, Bonnaroo introduced a 5K race, which will be returning this year, according to a press release.

Tickets go on sale Feb. 22 at noon EST and start at $249.50. VIP packages, at $1,499.50 for a pair of tickets, will also be available.

As for Southern California’s premiere multi-day music event, the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is sold out. A reunited OutKast will anchor Coachella, set for the weekends of April 11-13 and April 18-20 on a polo field in the desert city of Indio, and other acts at the top of the bill for the dual Coachellas include Queens of the Stone Age, Skrillex, Broken Bells, Haim, Beck, Calvin Harris and Neutral Milk Hotel.
