Chris Brown rep says Vegas battery claims are ‘unequivocally untrue’

Singer Chris Brown has denied an accusation that he battered a woman in Las Vegas during a concert after-party.

Las Vegas police reported that the singer, who has had several run-ins with the law in recent years, is a suspect in an investigation of misdemeanor theft and battery against a woman.

Brown, who was in town for the New Year’s concert at Drai’s, is accused of taking the woman’s cellphone and hitting her after she tried to take a photograph with him.

The incident was reported Saturday morning when police received a complaint of an attack inside a hotel suite at the Palms Casino Resort where a party was being held. When officers responded, they were met by a woman “who appeared to have minor injuries sustained as a result of a battery,” according to a press release.

The alleged victim claimed that the 26-year-old singer struck her during a party inside a hotel suite. Police said she then was escorted out of the room by private security into the hallway, where a separate alleged disturbance led to her removal by hotel security.

When detectives attempted to contact Brown in the hotel room, they were not allowed inside. Police later learned he had already left the location before the officers’ arrival.

The name of the alleged victim has not been released by authorities, though TMZ identified her as Liziane Gutierrez. A statement from Brown’s publicist, Nicole Perna, confirms Gutierrez as the alleged victim, and added that her “statements are unequivocally untrue.”

“Ms. Gutierrez was escorted out of the private after party at the Palms Casino Resort for being disruptive and out of control,” the statement continued. “Once she was in the hallway, while waiting for Chris Brown’s security to bring out her phone, she had a total meltdown -- throwing her purse to the ground and claiming that she ‘could buy everyone in the hotel,’ as witnessed by numerous people waiting to get into the party.

“The Palms Casino Resort security also saw her wild behavior via hotel security cameras and immediately came up to the hallway to escort her out of the hotel.”

Perna’s statement went on to insinuate Gutierrez was intoxicated: “I’m not sure what mood altering substances Ms. Gutierrez was on, but her statements are completely false and not based in reality. This seems like a clear case of retaliation for her bruised ego.”

Executives at the hotel refused to comment.

Brown later took to his Instagram account, posting a picture of himself in deep reflection. The caption reads: “Keeping my circle small in 2016! I’m done taking the care of grown … men. And I’m going to be hella rich after all the lawsuits I file from these crazy individuals who keep lying on my name. Happy NEW YEAR! Time for some of us to grow the ... up!”

Brown’s troubles have brought him more headlines than his successful singing career. The entertainer, who named his most recent album “Royalty,” after his daughter, was named earlier this year as one of two men who beat another at the Palms Hotel. The investigation was dropped after the alleged victim told detectives he did want to press charges against the singer.

Brown was also released from felony probation last year, more than six years after he assaulted then-girlfriend Rihanna.
