Former radio host Casey Kasem located in Washington state, police say
Casey Kasem has been found.
Days after the ailing former radio host’s children expressed concern over their father’s whereabouts -- the latest development in an ongoing dispute between the children and Kasem’s second wife regarding Kasem’s healthcare -- police in Washington state said they’d located the 82-year-old on Wednesday, according to the Associated Press.
His condition, the AP added, was not immediately known.
Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Daniel S. Murphy on Monday ordered officials to look for Kasem, said to have Parkinson’s disease, after a lawyer for the radio personality’s wife told the court he didn’t know where Kasem was.
Murphy also appointed Kasem’s daughter Kerri Kasem as her father’s temporary conservator.
Kerri Kasem’s attorney said in court this week that Kerri Kasem and her siblings believed that Casey Kasem’s wife, Jean Kasem, had taken the star from Los Angeles to an Indian reservation, the latest in a series of repeated moves undertaken without warning to his children.
Casey Kasem rose to fame as the host of several radio countdown shows, including “American Top 40,” now hosted by Ryan Seacrest. He also voiced the character of Shaggy in the original “Scooby-Doo” cartoon.
“We are grateful to the local authorities for finding my Dad,” Kerri Kasem wrote early Thursday on Facebook. “We are one step closer to bringing him home.”
