HARD Summer 2013: Knife Party, Dog Blood and Bassnectar headline

If you liked the Sahara tent at Coachella, you’re going to love the lineup at this year’s HARD Summer.

Several of the fest’s major dance headliners, including neo-dubsteppers Knife Party, the Skrillex/Boys Noize project Dog Blood and the hirsute low-end wrangler Bassnectar, will make return Southern California appearances at the annual summer electronica festival. It hits Los Angeles State Historic Park on Aug. 3-4, and tickets are currently on sale.

Some other notable Coachella crossovers? Pop rapper 2 Chainz, trap-music vanguards TNGHT, “Harlem Shake” meme-rider Baauer and the suave U.K. house duo Disclosure.

Other marquee acts include the goth-dance duo Crystal Castles, Aussie prog-disco’ers Empire of the Sun, saucy rapper Azealia Banks, L.A.’s cosmic experimentalist Flying Lotus, A-Trak’s Duck Sauce project and a DJ set from French hard-house titans Justice.

The fest will have special tents devoted to two pace-setting dance labels, hosting the only U.S. stop of the Ed Banger Records 10th anniversary tour (with sets from Justice, Breakbot, Busy P and Mr Oizo, among others) and the Dirtybird Players revue with lascivious house sets from Claude von Stroke, Justin Martin, J.Phlip and more.

There’s also a pretty adorable trailer with dogs dressed as the festival’s headliners.

After being acquired by Live Nation and since the 2011 departure of Electric Daisy Carnival to Las Vegas, HARD Summer has made overt plays to become L.A.’s definitive electronic music-focused event, and this year’s bill runs the table on 2013’s en-vogue touring acts.
