Blake Shelton to officiate at Kelly Clarkson’s wedding
Kelly Clarkson said Sunday that Blake Shelton would officiate at her wedding to Brandon Blackstock, who also happens to be Shelton’s manager.
Clarkson told “Entertainment Tonight” during Sunday’s Academy of Country Music Awards ceremony in Las Vegas that Shelton would do the honors at the formal ceremony, even though she said, “Well, we are already technically married when the ceremony happens, so it’s not like it’s going to be boring or anything because it’s Blake.”
His central role in their wedding comes as no big surprise, in that Shelton previously has taken credit for their engagement.
“I told Brandon, ‘Man, you need to grow up and figure out that you need to marry this girl,’ ” Shelton said in December, and also volunteered his services to entertain at the nuptials.
“I am going on the record saying I will do the music at the wedding or whatever you want to do, I’ll be that guy,” he says. “I will play for four hours if I have to, ‘cause you need to get your head out of your [backside] and ask that girl to marry you.”
Clarkson also noted that Shelton had performed the same function for Ashley Monroe of the Pistol Annies, the band Monroe is in with Miranda Lambert, Shelton’s wife, and singer Angaleena Presley.
Clarkson and Blackstock have not announced the date they plan to marry.
