Ozzy Osbourne hospitalized for flu complications
Rocker Ozzy Osbourne has been hospitalized due to complications from the flu, according to his wife, Sharon Osbourne.
She tweeted Wednesday afternoon that her husband’s “doctors feel this is the best way to get him on a quicker road to recovery. Thanks to everyone for their concern and love.”
Osbourne’s reps did not immediately respond to The Times’ for an update on Thursday.
The hospitalization is the latest in the rocker’s ongoing health-related issues. Last month, the 70-year-old postponed the entire U.K. and European leg of his “No More Tours 2” tour with Judas Priest on doctors’ orders. This, after he postponed a few shows because of the flu.
Osbourne was recently diagnosed with a severe upper-respiratory infection, which his doctors felt could develop into pneumonia given the physicality of the live performances and an extensive travel schedule throughout Europe in harsh winter conditions, his team said in a statement on Jan. 29.
“I’m completely devastated for having to postpone the European leg of my tour. It just seems that since October everything I touch has turned to .... First the staph infection in my thumb and now coming down with the flu and bronchitis,” the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer said in a statement at the time.
Last year, the Prince of Darkness canceled several shows on his North American farewell tour because of the staph infection in his hand.
His “No More Tours 2” tour is lated to resume on March 9 in Australia and shows will follow in New Zealand and Japan before a two-month North American leg.
