Rapper Lil Wayne was taken to a hospital in Nebraska on Monday after suffering a seizure while aboard a private plane traveling to California, according to TMZ.

The website said Lil Wayne’s plane, which had been flying from Milwaukee, where the 33-year-old rapper performed Sunday night, made an emergency landing Monday afternoon in Omaha. The rapper’s real name is Dwayne Carter.

Paramedics met him on the ground, TMZ reported, but Lil Wayne refused treatment, and his plane took off again – only to return to Omaha after the rapper suffered a second seizure in the air.

Dennis Messina, an airport operations supervisor at Eppley Airfield in Omaha, told The Times that an aircraft had made two unscheduled landings there Monday, and that an ambulance had removed a passenger after the second stop.

But he declined to identify the passenger or say where the plane had been traveling from.

KETV-TV in Omaha reported that Lil Wayne was being treated at CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center. The hospital didn’t immediately respond to a request for information from The Times.

In a statement to several media outlets, the rapper’s publicist said he was “in stable condition and good spirits.”

Lil Wayne, who has described himself as having epilepsy, has suffered seizures before, including in 2012, when a plane he was traveling on made a similar emergency landing in Louisiana, and 2013, when he spent six days at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

A representative for the rapper didn’t immediately return a call seeking comment.
