Toronto Film Festival: Five trailers to get you in the mood

Organizers of the Toronto International Film Festival this morning announced some of their key selections for the Sept. 6-16 event. Here’s a look at five trailers to get you in the mood for the fest.

“Argo”: Ben Affleck is back behind the camera, directing himself in this film based on a true story of how the CIA rescued six Americans from Iran after militant students stormed the U.S. Embassy in Tehran in 1979. The operation involved a cover story using a fake movie called “Argo.” The movie stars Affleck as well as Bryan Cranston, Alan Arkin and John Goodman.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who was in Toronto last year with the cancer comedy “50/50” is back in 2012 with “Looper,” which was chosen as the opening-night film. The movie, directed by Rian Johnson, stars our recent bat-friend as a hired gun living in an era where time travel is possible. The film also stars Bruce Willis, along with Emily Blunt, Paul Dano and Jeff Daniels.

Bill Murray is back center stage in “Hyde Park on Hudson,” playing Franklin Delano Roosevelt. The year is 1939 and he and wife Eleanor are hosting the queen and king of England for a weekend in upstate New York. FDR’s complex domestic affairs make the royals’ visit unforgettable. In addition to Murray, the Focus Features film directed by Roger Michell stars Olivia Williams and Laura Linney.

Keira Knightley is back with director Joe Wright in “Anna Karenina,” following their collaborations on “Pride & Prejudice” and “Atonement.” This well-known Tolstoy story also features Jude Law and Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

Emma Watson, Logan Lerman and Ezra Miller star in “The Perks of Being a Wallflower,” the film version of Stephen Chbosky’s 1999 novel of the same name. Chbosky wrote the screenplay and also directed the movie, about a high school freshman’s struggles with adolescence.
