Tina Fey and Amy Poehler take on the Force in ‘Star Wars’-inspired featurette

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are taking on the Force: The comedy duo’s upcoming buddy comedy “Sisters” opens the same day as the highly anticipated “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”

The actresses are not ignorant of the fact that their film, which revolves around a sororal send-off of their characters’ childhood home, hits theaters Dec. 18, a day etched on countless calendars since it was claimed by Lucasfilm and Disney for the sci-fi fantasy film.

Now the “Saturday Night Live” alums have fully embraced Universal’s scheduling blunder -- er, strategy -- by putting out a “Star Wars”-inspired featurette, “Sisters: The Farce Awakens,” complete with a similar score and sense of nostalgia, British accents and a very unfortunate Chewbacca impression from costar Maya Rudolph.

“A real house. A real pool. Practical vomit effects,” narrates costar Ike Barinholtz. “You’ve been in a house. But not in this house. And nothing’s changed, really. I mean, everything’s changed ... That’s the way you want it to be really.”

“It could not be more exciting to see the way technology has evolved and yet keep one foot in the pre-digital world,” Poehler says in a British accent -- an accent that Fey says is in place just to cover up their drunken buzz.

“It literally could not be more exciting,” Fey repeats again and again. This from the woman whose “30 Rock” alter ego dressed as Princess Leia for her wedding. (Hey, it’s the only white dress she owns!)

The featurette then switches from its serious tone to a screwball sensibility, giving the “Sisters” highlight reel a “Star Wars”-style blooper treatment.

“Here’s some trivia,” Fey says. “R2-D2 is my current bra size!”

The takeaway they conclude? “#YouCanSeeThemBoth.”

Incidentally, other movies vying against the Force include Fox Family’s live-action animated comedy “Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip” and Lionsgate’s Bruce Willis thriller, “Extraction.”
