Critic’s Pick: ‘The Stunt Man’ clever then, still clever now
Can it really be more than 30 years since “The Stunt Man” dazzled audiences with its clever tale of what goes down when a fugitive from the law stumbles onto a movie set and into the clutches of Peter O’Toole’s gleefully monomaniacal director, a filmmaker whose motto is “if God could do the tricks that we can, do he’d be a happy man.”
As part of its Anniversary Classics Series hosted by Stephen Farber, the Landmark theater in West Los Angeles will screen “The Stunt Man,” which earned Oscar nominations for O’Toole as well as for its direction and screenplay, on Feb. 19. Present at the 7 p.m. screening for a Q&A will be director Richard Rush and actor Steve Railsback, who played the fugitive. 10850 Pico Blvd. at Westwood Boulevard.
