‘Fast & Furious 6’: The cars cost millions, hundreds got crushed
Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez and Gina Carano are billed as the stars of “Fast & Furious 6,” opening Friday. But it only takes a few scenes of the latest installment of the “Furious” franchise to realize that the millions of dollars of cars are the real action heroes.
Dennis McCarthy, the Sun Valley-based car nut who’s been responsible for cars in the past four “Furious” films, said his team actually lost track of how many cars were destroyed over the course of filming.

Between 300 and 400 cars get crushed, thrown, blown up, run over and generally treated like the expendable hunks of metal that they are.
The cars starring in the film range from the mundane, like a 2012 Dodge Charger, to the extremely rare. Vin Diesel spends considerable time in a 1969 Dodge Daytona.
Such a thick roster of cars pushed just the automotive budget into the eight figures.
