Cecilia Hart, wife of James Earl Jones, has died
Actress Cecilia Hart, the wife of actor James Earl Jones, died Oct. 16 after a year-long battle with ovarian cancer. She was 68.
Hart’s death was reported by Westportnow.com, a website based in Westport. Conn. where Hart played in a 2015 production of “Bedroom Farce” at the Westport County Playhouse.
Hart and Jones married in 1982, the same year that he played Othello opposite her Desdemona on Broadway. Woody Paris.
In addition to “Othello,” Hart also appeared on Broadway in revivals of “The Heiress” and “Design for Living,” as well as in Tom Stoppard’s “Dirty Linen & New-Found-Land,” for which she was nominated for a Drama Desk Award in 1977.
She also acted in TV shows including “Three’s Company,” “MacGyver,” “Law & Order” and “Charles in Charge.”
A native of Cheyenne, Wyo., Hart was previously married to “Hill Street Blues” star Bruce Weitz.
In addition to Jones, Hart is survived by their son, Flynn, and her brothers James and William.
