Russell Brand was ‘very happy’ to be married to Katy Perry
Russell Brand may be known for his eccentric eloquence, but don’t expect him to target ex-wife Katy Perry with any long-winded commentary regarding their defunct marriage.
“I still love her as a human being,” he said Thursday, “but sometimes when you’re in a relationship I suppose it doesn’t work out, does it? But that doesn’t mean I regret it or anything.”
Appearing on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” Brand summed it up succinctly.
“I was very happy to be married with her,” he said. “She’s such a beautiful human being and I just have only love and positivity for her.”
Brand and Perry, who married in October 2010 and separated in December 2011, settled the terms of their not-yet-final divorce in February. Neither party petitioned for spousal support, setting up smooth sailing through the legal process.
Perry has now taken up with Florence + the Machine guitarist Robert Ackroyd. Brand remains single, but he scored a seat between two cuties during his visit with DeGeneres. See Russell and Ellen with British YouTube sensations Sophia Grace and Rosie, below.
