Rosie O’Donnell secretly married fiancee Michelle Rounds
Rosie O’Donnell and Michelle Rounds are married, though they have yet to celebrate with a dream wedding, the former talk-show host announced in a blog post Monday.
“[W]e married in private / before her surgery / just the 2 of us,” O’Donnell wrote in her usual free-form style.
The two, who announced their engagement in December, had planned to wed in August. They moved up the date to June 9, right before Rounds’ first of several surgeries to remove gastrointestinal desmoid tumors, O’Donnell’s rep told People.
On her blog, O’Donnell noted that the scheduling change was fortunate, “as i was in ICU” on the date they’d originally earmarked, 10 days ago. On Aug. 14 she suffered a heart attack, though she didn’t immediately see a doctor.
“[W]hen we r both well enough / will have the wedding of r dreams / surrounded by those we cherish / thankful for the love and support / so many have given us / during these trying times,” she wrote, “including all of u / stranger-friends / connected thru invisible strands / of wi fi.”
Desmoid tumors are a rare, cancer-like illness, also known as aggressive fibromatosis, that can arise in any part of the body, according to the Desmoid Tumor Research Foundation. Though they cannot metastasize, they can destroy adjacent tissue, including organs, and can be life-threatening, the foundation’s website says.
O’Donnell said she’s been painting a lot since her heart attack and is currently EBay-auctioning several works to benefit the Desmoid Tumor Research Foundation.
