Prince Harry takes jewels home; palace uninspired to comment

As fast as Prince Harry’s clothes came off in a Las Vegas hotel suite, the royal has departed Sin City via Los Angeles to return to England.

But the fantastic mess he’s left in his wake has the Internet plastered with two photos of the young prince in his birthday suit.

Snaps obtained of Harry, who popped into Vegas after official business at a charity event in San Diego, show him stark naked, running around a cushy room at the MGM Grand, according to TMZ. He’s depicted clinging to a nearly naked female in both.

After a wild Sunday night that saw him challenge Olympian Ryan Lochte to a swim race, Harry seems to be having a blast in the photos, one displaying a pool table that Ministry only hopes really was used for a game of strip billiards.

The antics are amusing to almost everyone, but is he in for a talking-to when he lands on British soil?

Clarence House, office of Harry’s father, Prince Charles, had no comment on the photos, which would suggest a big royal “meh” in classifying these pictures as scandal. And the romp seems only to have underscored his popularity as the lone single, mingling title-holder in the palace.

“I’ve got kids. They do things like that,” one London resident told the Associated Press. “He’s a lad, for God’s sake.”

A boys-will-be-boys mentality has served well in the past for both Harry and Prince William, now Duke of Cambridge and husband to Duchess Kate, but discipline can be carried out in arenas other than that of public opinion.

For starters: with his military commander. Harry is a captain in the British Army Air Corps.

“He will be reprimanded [by the army]. Officers should never bring the service into disrepute, whether on or off duty,” Us magazine reported, citing a senior military source. “This display of social misbehavior has raised eyebrows.”

Then there’s family fallout. The same report said older bro Will looked over the images Wednesday and was “not impressed.”

And of course, we can’t forget the media feedback. Just before hopping his flight at LAX, Harry enjoyed lunch at a Venice Beach eatery. En route to his car, a British paparazzo delivered the sentence of the week (video here).

“Your highness, have you got any comment on the naked photos?”

He didn’t.
